We've been working on this for awhile and we've finally gotten there! If you encounter any bugs while browsing BQB on a Mac, kindly report them using the "Support" link on the blue navigation bar.
Have a lot of domains you need listed, not a lot of time on your hands? Let BQB.com do it for you -- 100% free of charge.
What we need:
1 - The domains you want listed.
2 - The prices you'd like them listed at.
3 - The category you would like them listed in.
4 - The duration of the auctions (minimum 30 days). If you'd like the domains to relist automatically should they not sell, please specify that.
A working example of how we need this arranged can be found here: http://img112.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bqbbulkdemouj9.jpg . We've designed a custom software solution which can turn Microsoft Excel entries into BQB.com auctions. This can also be arranged in OpenOffice Calc, Notepad (1 "Tab" between each column, 1 row per domain), and many other CSV and spreadsheet programs (please feel free to email us to see if it's compatible with your CSV/spreadsheet program).
Once this is completed, please email the file to reece@bqb.com . Listing time will be 24-72 hours and we can accomodate bulk domain lists of up to 10,000 domains at one time.
We reserve the right to refuse bulk listing of domains which we feel are excessively priced.
June was a great month for BQB and our members. Total sales reached $25616 (this only includes sales which are known to have occurred through the BQB auction platform and not sales which may have occurred as a result of BQB exposure). You can see all the sales data here in the BQB Sales Archive section.
This is just a friendly reminder that you are not allowed to list domain names for auction on BQB which are currently on auction elsewhere. Should you wish to begin an auction elsewhere (eg. Sedo, Afternic, eBay), please let us know immediately so that we can delete this auction from BQB. You are not under any circumstances allowed to begin auctions elsewhere prior to your listing here being deleted -- in the event that there is an existing bid on your listing (regardless of whether it has met any reserve price in place), you will be required to sell on BQB. Should you be interested in attempting to sell your domain via a second auction platform simultaneously, please make sure to set your starting bid to your BIN and use the Buy-It-Now feature -- effectively making this no longer an auction but a Fixed Price listing. You will be required to sell this domain on BQB should it be purchased via the BIN function, regardless of what your domain sells for on the other auction platform.
Failure to comply will result in temporary or permanent suspension of selling privileges and membership on BQB.
In case you haven't yet noticed, we're now reviewing all "One Word Domain" and "Other Domain" auctions before approving them on BQB. We've received many complaints recently about both the excessive prices and the lack of quality many of the domains listed in these sections had. A remedy for that is now in place -- all auctions will be manually evaluated for both quality and list price and will only be allowed on BQB should we believe it has a realistic chance of selling at the price being asked. This is not an endorsement that every domain in these categories is worth the price being asked, merely that we feel the domain is of sufficient quality to be allowed listing on BQB and that it's price is not excessively unreasonable. There are still no restrictions on what you can list in your store.
We welcome comments to this most recent change -- feel free to contact us via Support.
All those empty sponsor spaces are now ready to be filled!
If you click on any of the white sponsor spots effective immediately, you'll be taken to a page which will allow you to purchase advertising on BQB. The 4 sponsor spots on both the left and right side are available for sponsorship. Ads will rotate among the 8 slots, however only 8 ads will be taken in total ensuring each ad receives equal exposure for their advertising dollar.
As an introductory price, we're offering these 8 advertising spots for just $100 per month each with no required commitment. We'll even let you prepay up to 6 months at $100/month to guard against any price increases these spots may receive in the future. We ask that all static banner ads be a maximum of 10KB in size and use JPEG format. Animated banner ads must use GIF format and must also remain below 10KB in size. All banner ad spots are exactly 200 pixels wide by 100 pixels high. For optimal results, we ask that your ad be exactly these dimensions.
Should you require additional information about sponsoring BQB, please feel free to contact us via "Support" on the navigation bar. All advertising purchases are subject to approval and will be refunded in full if deemed unacceptable.
BQB's main developer has just made a number of excellent additions and modifications which were recommended to us by members. Should you have additional suggestions, please feel free to email them to reece(at)bqb.com and we'll see about what we can do about getting them included in the near future.
Complete Safari / OS X support
Addition of a "Verified" Image to auctions which makes verified members stand out more
Current prices + end dates shown on featured items
Outbid email/watched item error fixed
New relisting mod which resets auctions rather than creating new ones (better for SEO)
Messages Sent / Received now shows the amount in the mailbox
Auction categories sections cleaned up and increased to 100 domains per page
A 5 minute anti-snipe is now in place. Two examples follow of how this will work.
Example 1:
End Time: 1:00 Bid Time: 0:56 New End Time 1:01
Example 2: End Time: 1:00 Bid Time: 0:59 New End Time: 1:04
This will hopefully be the best of both worlds for buyers and sellers, allowing more strategy to when it's best to place a final bid and at the same time ensuring that any significantly interested bidder doesn't lose out because of a last minute snipe.
BQB has implemented a verification program. The cost is $10 and verifies that members are both:
1) In control of the Paypal/Moneybookers account listed on file
2) In control of the email address affiliated with their Paypal/Moneybookers account
To become verified, please do the following:
1- Send $10 from a Verified Paypal/Moneybookers to: reece@bqb.com
2 - Send an email to reece@bqb.comconfirming you recently sent us a Paypal/Moneybookers payment in the amount of $10 from the exact same email address payment was sent from.
- This will appear in your listings whenever you list an item for sale once verified, letting all prospective buyers know that you're a verified member. We will be adding an option shortly to allow sellers to restrict buyers to "Verified members only". The Verified seal gives prospective buyers increased confidence that you're a trustworthy member. This may encourage additional members to bid on your auctions, making you more money.
We're currently running a special promotion to encourage member verification -- get verified and we'll give you a store on BQB with the monthly fee permanently waived (a savings of $19.00/month!). Stores are found here: http://www.bqb.com/stores.php . In addition, a store icon will appear next to your username, allowing members to easily browse your store whenever they view any of your listings.
We've had several requests to add a section for domains which weren't "short". Let's face it, even most of us short domain investors happen to have a few domains which just don't fit the BQB definition of short... Now there's a whole section for all these domains - see: http://www.bqb.com/Other-Domains,category,2366,parent_id,categories . Hopefully it'll bring a few more sales your way -- just remember that BQB is a domainer-to-domainer marketplace, so don't price your names at enduser prices!
Sales data for the complete month of May is now out. BQB recorded 175 sales ranging from $1.00 to $3000. Sales above $100 are bolded below. Total sales for the month of May 2008 exceeded $8000.
By popular requests, 2 new auction lengths have been implemented:
- 24 hours
- 48 hours
This will allow quicker listings on BQB for those who don't like to wait around for days on auctions and will give bargain hunters more domains to hunt for. Make sure you set a proper reserve price or starting bid if employing one of these new 2 auction lengths to make sure you get a price you're satisfied with.
Like it or not, we can all admit that Paypal has become the "de facto standard" in online payment processing. As we all know, Paypal does have some limitations when it comes to protecting sellers from unscrupulous buyers. Bearing that in mind, BQB now allows sellers to require that buyers be Paypal Verified. This is your choice -- you can still accept Paypal from anyone like before, however you're also now able to restrict your sales to strictly verified members who've proven themselves to be who they say they are. Be aware that a Verified Paypal account does not guarantee a successful and safe transaction, it merely reduces the likelihood of encountering problems. Moneybookers is still the best choice when it comes to seller safety.
Several people have asked about having bulk lots allowed on BQB and when the question was asked on the Namepros Short Domain Discussion forum recently, the need to add bulk listing capabilities was apparent. So there you have it -- We have 2 new categories for bulk domain listings:
The bulk sections are sorted by extension and we ask that you please list only short domains from both the same extension and the same character length in any bulk listing. Any bulk lots from 1-5 characters including letters, numbers, and hyphens (not IDNs) are allowed in this section.
Please begin your listing title with the number of domains, followed by the type of domains.
An example of an acceptable title would be: "100 Quad Premium LLLL.nets". Everyone is welcome to list in these new sections starting out, however if the need arises we will moderate each listing before letting it go live, as we currently do in the "1 Word Generics" section.
You must include the expiration dates in the domain description section for all domains being offered in your bulk listing -- if this isn't done your listing will be removed.
All applications received as of midnight yesterday have been gone through. If you've received an email confirmation, welcome to BQB! If you're using AOL, you might not have received a confirmation -- our emails seem to be bouncing from some AOL accounts. Please attempt to login using the username and password you signed up with if you're using AOL and haven't heard anything back. We're up to 208 members now - still growing strong!
You're welcome to host a contest like Mark from DotSauce, however effective immediately any incentivizing of every signup will not count towards your referral numbers. We're getting too many people offering money in exchange for signups and the quality of the applications are largely inacceptable. If I wanted everyone offering money for signups, I could have done that myself... Please be creative about how you go about getting signups and make sure the members you recruit aren't just after a quick buck.
If you're a bit confused at first, no worries nothing has changed, we've just had a few of the button designs modified by a third party to better suit BQB's colors and to better reflect the meaning of the Buy Now (previous Buy Out) function. Stores are now depicted by a small house logo with the store written across which should make it much easier for all your customers to recognize that you own a store on BQB. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding future modifications we can make, please feel free to suggest them via the Support function.
Support for short .us, .ca, .in, .co.uk, .eu, .de, .mobi, among other extensions has been added. Domains of 1 and 2 character length will be allowed regardless of extension, as will LLL.ext and NNN.ext.
A "1 Word Generics" section has been created for top keywords in popular extensions. All sales in this section will be pre-moderated, so we'll make sure only the cream of the crop shows up! As a general rule, if we don't feel it would fetch $10k in .com, it won't be allowed in the generics section. Please make sure to only create 1 keyword listings -- it doesn't matter if the word is RealEstate.com -- 2 words means no listing it on BQB. Acronym domains are not accepted in this section either -- please refer to the appropriate section above. This new section is strictly for dictionary word domain names -- eg. Cow.com can be listed in the generics category (under "Nature"), as can Computer.com (under "Technology"). This is the only section on BQB (aside from any Store you're welcome to purchase) which allows domain names longer than 5 letters to be listed. Domains containing numbers or hyphens will not be accepted, nor will dotcoms registered after 2003, under any circumstances.
Why pay for a store when you can list your domains for free on BQB, you ask?
Exposure. Trust. Increased Sales. Which answer works for you? Stores help you identify with your customers and help them find your other domain offerings. If you have a website outside BQB, having a store on BQB will allow you to make your customers aware of that. Do you have certain policies regarding transfers? Are certain times of the day better to contact you than others? It's your store, do with it what you want!
NameSugar.com signed up for a store recently -- you can view it here to get a better idea of whether a Store on BQB would be best for you, your company, your customers.
A store on BQB costs just $19/month or $149/year prepaid (amounts to $12.41/month). A Lifetime Store is available for just $449 and gives you a Store on BQB permanently without any recurring fees. Lifetime Stores will show up higher on the Stores page than other Stores and are accompanied by a permanent fee reduction of 25% on all future listing fees on BQB.
If you have a lot of domains which don't fall into the "5 character or under" categories, a store on BQB may be just what you need to get your domains sold. Store owners are allowed to list any domains they own in their store (regular listing rules still apply outside your store), even if they're longer than 5 characters or in extensions not found elsewhere on BQB. Stores allow you to create your own custom categories to better help your customers find what you have for sale.
Sold on a Store or interested in hearing more? Feel free to contact me via the Support function and I'll be happy to answer your pre-purchase inquiries.
We've had several members ask about having a "Recently Sold" section on BQB, so we've done just that!
If you scroll down to the very bottom of the BQB homepage, you'll see a grey navigation bar, with the rightmost option being "Recent Sales". We'll update this section each week with all sales on BQB from the previous week. If you'd like, you can bookmark this link: http://www.bqb.com/custom_page,page,56,topic_id,content_pages , and you'll be able to see what's sold on BQB in the past.
BQB is holding a referral contest until we hit 1000 members. We're looking for more quality members that share BQB's values. If you have any friends or business contacts who you think would be a great addition to BQB, please let them know that a no commission alternative exists and that they're welcome to apply. We've added a "Referred by" section to the registration page, so make sure you tell them to fill in your username there. Please send "Reece" a pm on Namepros or DN Forum after they've signed up so we can make sure they get approved asap. You're welcome to tell your website and blog readers about BQB as well -- just make sure they enter your username on their application form so that we can give you credit for it. Please make sure that anyone who submits an application is aware that BQB is selective in who we accept as members and are primarily interested in only domainers with 50+ domains and either established reputations or members with established reputations who can vouch for them.
The Prizes
1st Place $2500
2nd Place $1500
3rd Place $1000
Prizes will be paid out through Moneybookers.
BQB currently has 400 approved members (as of July 23, 2008). We'll post updated referral counts every few days so everyone is aware of where they stand.
New members will now be required to list 50 domains from their portfolio and fill in a few sentences about why they'd like to be a BQB member and why we should consider adding them to BQB. I won't discriminate against any legitimately interested party that owns less than 50 domains and takes the time to not only read the News section, but submit a quality application :-)
Same conditions as before -- send an email to reece(at)bqb.com if your account isn't approved within 24 hours and you'd like to gain membership. I have no interest in getting BQB a certain amount of members just so we can say we have a certain amount of members... Nope, we're going for quality members and quality members only and that will hopefully be reflected in low levels of fraud and lightning fast payments and domain pushes.
Since May 4th, when the first BQB sale occurred, BQB has witnessed 32 more domains sell -- that's the difference quality members make. Try and find any established domain marketplace out there that has even close to 33 sales per 107 members a year, nevermind achieving that in our first week!
BQB has been getting a very large number of applications (on the order of 10+ per hour) for the last 6 hours. I ask that everyone please have patience as I go about approving your applications. For every applicant I don't personally know or can't confirm as being a reputable member of an existing domain name forum, I'm left to do additional research. You can greatly help speed up this process by sending me an email via the "Support" navigation bar or by sending me an email directly to reece(at)bqb.com . If you're a member of an existing domain name forum, please inform me of your username and send a comfirmation message from that username to "Reece" if you're a member of DN Forum or Namepros. If you're not a member of either but know someone who's already been approved for membership on BQB, please ask them to send me an email or private message vouching for you. If you're totally new to domaining or aren't a member of any forums or discussion boards, please send me an email explaining why you're interested in becoming a BQB member, a few sample domains from your collection, and a little bit about you.
We can't guarantee scammers won't sign up, nor can we guarantee that anyone won't be scammed, but if we work together as a team, we can hopefully make BQB into as large and professional of a marketplace as possible -- and that starts with the users we approve!
Most of us (including me!) are guilty of this, but as has been pointed out by several members, BQB is starting to have a lot of listings with "NO RESERVE" or other text written in the title. It's fine for listings which are already listed -- BQB is in Beta for a reason afterall!
If possible, please refrain from using any text other than the domain name in the title moving forward. We'll put this rule "officially" in place on June 06, 2008, giving everyone a full 30 days notice of this upcoming change. If you'd like to voice your opinion on this change, please feel free to do so. You're welcome to send me a message anytime via the support function in the navigation bar or by email to reece(at)bqb.com .
It has been brought to our attention that members attempting to list domains using the Mac OS X Safari web browser have been encountering problems entering details into the description field. We're working on a workaround and apologize for any inconvenience members have incurred thus far as a result of this.
